CLUSTERS

  • Blockchain

The Blockchain cluster focuses on policy, legal and industry perspectives to the deployment of blockchain in public and private spaces. The cluster facilitates covnersations with regulators, politicians and industry experts on the risks to using blockchain in Uganda.

  • The cluster focuses on the contemporary issues arising from the use of artificial intelligence in various spheres of government and the private sector. Beyond dealing with the underlying technical concerns and questions of privacy and bias, the Centre focuses on the larger questions of artificial intelligence’s disruptive potential to the current social order, income inequality and the various necessary legal interventions.

  • Our researchers in this cluster explore the centrality of data as the point of convergence in the use of all frontier technologies. Viewed as the world’s most valuable resource at this time, conversations in this cluster explore the most effective legal mechanisms for realizing the data dividend at all levels of society.

  • The use of automated systems has evolved and discussions in Uganda and Africa have not. This cluster explores indepth work on the formulation of meaningful human engagement and other critical paths relating to the use of smart and autonomous machines.
